Hiring A Website Developer in 2024

Hiring a website developer to develop your corporate professional website can be quite confusing.

And I really don't blame you. I was confused when I just started to learn about web development. But after 3 years, let me try to simplify the process of building a functioning website for you.

Do you actually need a website?

The first question you might have is if you need a website in the first place. More often than not, the answer is yes. Why?

Because having a website is still the best way to establish your company as a legitimate, trustworthy and valuable company. While social media does effect your digital brand, your website is more of your digital home where you showcase the best of your company and provide valuable insight for your audience.

Here are some of the best use cases of a website:

  • Showcase your story. Tell the world your story in your own words in your own way. Share your success stories, your reason for doing your business and why people will benefit from your product/service.
  • Share your tips and lessons. Provide real value to your customers with actionable insight from your blog and articles.
  • Capture leads. Get potential clients to set up a meeting with you by submitting a contact form.
  • Sell your product or services. Make it easier for your customers to purchase from you with secure and easy payment system.

What do I need to build a website?

To build a website is not rocket science, you need a few technical things, a brand story and a little creativity.

Here is a checklist of all the technical things you need:

  • A Registered Domain Name - Your website's street address [eg. yourcompany.com]
  • A Hosting Provider - Where your website stores you digital files to be accessed from anywhere by anybody.
  • Website Build -The content of your website, basically the furniture in your house.

These 3 things represent the 3 building blocks of every website. But of course all websites are built differently, and there are many ways of building a website.

Check out my article on "What Tech Stack To Use for Your Website" to learn about your options.

How long does it take to build a website?

Setting up the basics can take no less than 24 hours. By tomorrow, you can register a domain, install a web builder and use a template and have a website running.

But that doesn't mean that the work is done.

Getting website live is just half the process. What comes next is actually far more important and what most businesses fail to do.

Once you have launched your website, you need to review your content based on user behavior and traffic analysis.

It is vital for you to understand that updating your website is as important as updating your social channels, that is how search engines know that you are an expert in your field.

How much does it cost to build a website?

The good thing living in 2024 is that there are tons of options for every budget available. And with a variety of options, comes with a variety of price points. But not all options are the same.
